As told by Claude Koon 09 Jan 1993 -
Koon family (parents and children (number not known)), along with animals came over from believed to be Germany in a sailboat. They got lost and came adrift- settled in Jamestown, farmed and believed to have been there for about 7 years. Luther was 2 at time of arrival. After the 7 years the fever killed the parents and all children except Luther (9) and Jane (15). They fled by boat (unsure if alone or with others) up the river. They were looking for the mouth of the Santee, but couldn't cross the rapids, and somehow ended up on Broad River around Pressley Shoals, and somehow ended up in Pomaria. Jane found work with an unkown family, and a Col. Chapman took Luther as a slave boy. Jane later married John Bolin(unsure of spelling). Luther ran away at belived to be age 15 to an Army camp. | David (KOON) COON
